Curriculum Overview
As a public school, we must follow all the same state standards as every GRPS elementary school, as well as give the M-STEP and state-approved benchmarks. To achieve this, we have adopted the following curricular materials:
- Ready Math
- Explicit instructions in each domain of reading using Magnetic Reading Foundations, Ready Reading, Heggarty, UFLI and the ISD’s Phonics Routine
- Phenomenal Science
- MAISA units for Science and Social Studies
- 2 academic interventionists for math and reading
We have a strong emphasis on the 100 Languages of children and social emotional learning. To support this work, we use:
- Empowering Education for direct SEL instruction in each classroom
- Conscious Discipline to build the school family
- Responsive Classroom Morning meetings and Closing Circles, along with bimonthly Community Meetings
- Studio arts with a year-long project for each class
- Movement class twice a week
- Music class twice a week
- 2 SEL interventionists for Tier II and III SEL support
- 2 academic interventionists for Tier III support
- 9 classroom paraprofessionals
