Fifth Grade Graduation

Fifth grade graduation will take place on Wednesday, June 6 at approximately 12:50 pm. A reception for fifth grade families and staff will follow.

Portfolio Day is Wednesday, April 25!

Remember, there is an alternative schedule that day. Your child only attends with you during your scheduled time. Attendance will be taken. Champions won’t be open.

When you arrive in your classroom, you will see long strips of paper, each with a student’s portfolio at one end.

Together, you and your child unpack the portfolio onto the paper, organizing it however you want. (That’s when you think about how your child learns and where you see evidence of that learning.)

When you’re done relishing in all the wonderful work of your child and that of other studnets, they get to put the work away while you sit down to write a heartfelt letter for them to read later. If it seems like a simple event, that’s because it is. But it’s also a very important part of the Reggio Emilia experinece and one you will learn to love an appreciate with each passing year.

Open enrollment has ended and we did not have to conduct a lottery for any grades. New families received a notice via email and acceptance letters will be mailed soon. We still have opening available and applications are being accepted on a first come, first served basis. Applications can be found here.

Diversity Week Feb. 13-17

We hope you can join us for the performances at morning meeting during Diversity Week. And of course, we want all of our families to join us for the Diversity Luncheon on February 15. On the evening of December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, an African American, was arrested for disobeying an Alabama law requiring black passengers to relinquish seats to white passengers when the bus was full. Blacks also were required to sit at the back of the bus. Her arrest sparked a 381-day boycott of the Montgomery bus system and led to a 1956 Supreme Court decision banning segregation on public transportation. For the full article, please click here.
