Materials Needed

The HIVE, our room dedicated to reusing man-made materials, is in need of supplies.  Please consider looking around your house for materials you may no longer be using. No purchases are necessary.  The school is looking for donations of specific items in large quantities.  For instance, a box of paper or a lunch bag full of screws is helpful.  With a well stocked HIVE, teachers and children can select materials to express learning and thinking while reducing consumption and costs.  A list of specific needs is below…

Materials in the HIVE are organized by paper, glass, fabric, wood, plastic and metal. photo 2photo 3

Materials in the HIVE are organized by paper, glass, fabric, wood, plastic and metal. Whatever you drop off must be sorted by volunteers, so we appreciate you limiting your materials to the following:

plain, white paper of all sizes

colored paper or stationary

colored glass

a collection of (not sharp)metal pieces: keys, bolts or nuts

sturdy, clear plastic containers

paper (not foam) egg cartons

buttons of all sizes, shapes and colors

The HIVE will be in need of other materials throughout the year. Thank you in advance for your support! If you have any of the mentioned materials, please bring them to school this Friday, October 4.  Questions? Contact Sarah Cooper at coopesar@childdiscoverycenter.org
